The Coming Open Rebellion Against God

The title of this article almost sounds surreal. At first one could be forgiven for thinking it was some sort of low budget End Times movie seen on some local cable access channel. However, the information contained within this article is real, fortunately, as believers and specifically those of us who are Catholic we know that Jesus promised that His Church would not fall despite the attempts of those working for the evil one. God is the truth and God is love, but the mere fact that He is both has caused many rebellions against him literally from day one. Sadly, those who often claim to be the smartest act the most childish, by at first claiming God doesn’t exist and then claiming if He does exist, He doesn’t make sense at least to them. This article will look at this behavior from the world’s earliest moments, but will mainly focus on what has happened in the last few years, right up until this very moment.

The slow inexorable march toward open human rebellion against God by humans began in of all places heaven when Lucifer and one third of the angels tried to take over heaven. What was the cause of their rebellion? The cause was the same as it always was pride, the need for power, the control of others and the turning way from truth and love. Theologians tell us that God showed Lucifer (the Light Bearer,) at the time the most beautiful of angels, the future and the need for the Incarnation. The “Light bearer” could not and would not accept the fact that divine suffering was needed to help the mere mortal, and so the rebellion began and it continues to this day. Those who deny God actually believe in Him more than they we will ever know, they just feel they could do a better than Him.

The Garden of Eden is the perfect example of it, the desire to be just like God and the later realization that life was almost perfect, but one threw it away for complete power. It has happened time and again since that fateful day until this very day. Sadly, we will soon see such an open rebellion against God that even those who hardly seemed shocked by anything will be stunned. Yet, it is nothing new.

We can see the timeline of rebellion against God march on from the Garden of Eden through King Nimrod, who actually thought he could walk up to heaven via his Tower of Babel. Perhaps, he thought he could call the shots or at least intimidate God. Those with out of control egos never seem to learn.  All throughout the Old Testament major and minor prophets tried to warn those who would listen that they needed to get closer to God and not their own inhibitions and egos. Man’s folly knows no bounds. With all of God’s gifts and prophets, the subtle rebellion continued. One might think that 2,000 years after the death and resurrection of God’s only Son, with all of its access to information via missionaries, the printed page and now the internet, the world would be on their knees night and day thanking God for His mercy and grace. Sadly they are not, in fact though few have ever spoken out in opposition to Jesus’ teachings, far fewer (percentage wise) follow Him now than did the earth’s populace fifty years ago.

The subtle rebellion occurs whenever we sin, so in a way we always rebel against God in some from or another. However, many of us repent and try to amend our ways. In more recent times, say from the 1960s onward a religious and cultural construct emerged where some claimed that despite the nearly 2,000 year of teachings of Christ, they had found the truths that the best and brightest before them had missed. The hubris of man knows no bounds. The feelings and desires of men and women were now superseding the truths of the Church. Some Christian churches were openly extolling the “option” of abortion and sexual exploration (before and during marriage and with the same sex as well.) Even in the Catholic Church, some priests, bishops and lay leaders were pushing an agenda that seemed far from the Splendor of Truth that Christ gave us via the Holy Scriptures and the Church Fathers expounded upon in Sacred Tradition.

Sadly some churches have seen theological and moral heresy enter into the seats of power. Case in point is the recent statement on traditional marriage made by the openly gay Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire Gene Robinson. This leading liberal Episcopal bishop  seems to cast doubt on the Christian basis for marriage between one man and one woman. Some of you may recall the interview I conducted with him in 2006. It was certainly eye opening to see the divisions between him and Canon Kendall Harmon (whom I also interviewed) a leading voice of the conservative wing of the Episcopal Church.    The Episcopal bishop isn’t alone with his views about marriage, Harry Knox a White House advisor has said that the Catholic Church and Pope Benedict’s view on marriage are very hurtful. In reality the fact of the matter is that traditional Judeo Christian views on marriage should be viewed in the teachings of Christ and the Early Church. For example, Jesus spoke more of the punishments of Sodom and Gomorrah more than he spoke of heaven.  In addition, homosexuality was specifically prohibited by the Early Church and every Christian body until the last few decades when some took a more liberal position.

In reality, if Jesus, the Apostles, Church Fathers and Popes of the Early Church wanted the Christian message to spread further they could certainly have been more tolerant of homosexuality since most of the Roman world approved of it. Many in the ruling and upper classes, especially men experimented with homosexuality. By the fact that the Christ and His Early Church through the Apostles, Church Father and Popes spoke out so forcefully against it shows the truth nature of Christian doctrine. Jesus was very specific that man could not serve two masters, he had to either serve God or his own inhibitions and there was an eternal price to pay for the latter. St Paul followed by even being more graphic on the subject. This is not to say that the Church condemned those with same sex attraction. In actuality, the Church has always been in the forefront (much to the consternation of some fundamentalist) concerning the fact that everyone is to be loved and comforted in this world. Yet the Church teaches that while on this earth, we are all given a cross to carry. Some people are given the cross of same sex attraction; they are not to act upon those feelings but to live celibate lives. Would any caring person tell an alcoholic that they should act upon their desires for alcohol?

Slowly but surely through time, the teachings of Christ and His Church were being questioned. The first signs of this occurred during the early days of the Renaissance when the few universities that were open would occasionally have to deal with students who would mock the Church while at the same lifting up their ego and intellectual prowess. It was a sign of things to come. Pride was one of the seven deadly sins for good reason. Martin Luther thought once he had the attention of the Christian world those who didn’t like what was going on in Rome would naturally follow him and his teachings.  Yet, his fellow reformers went in many directions. Pandora’s Box was open. All the tension and anger came flowing out at the Marburg Colloquy in 1529 when Luther realized that key doctrinal issues where not going to be followed by some of the leaders of his movement. When the Eucharist and other sacraments were shelved, Luther stormed out and exchanged unpleasantries with some of the attendees never to meet with them again. Luther later lamented that some of the Protestant movement ceased to be Christian when they disregarded Christ’ command concerning the Eucharist.  We now have 40,000+ denominations and independent churches in the United States even though Christ exhorted us to be One (John 10:16.)

The Eucharist, like many things of God is a no go for some of the enlightened and militant secularists of the world. God’s gift to mankind became a stumbling block (John 6:22-69) because it made no sense to the self appointed best and brightest, it would be a harbinger of things to come. Some of these self appointed best and brightest were emphasizing intelligence and rationality, as if they had a corner on the market. It would be used to attack everyone (especially conservative, religious minded political figures) from the lowliest to God Himself.

Though many have written about the French Revolution as the first open salvo of man’s rebellion against God, it was the Lisbon Earthquake of 1755 and subsequent tsunami that was the first concrete example of man mocking God and those who believed in Him. One of the infamous characters of the French Revolution, Voltaire led the charge against those who tried to understand the role of God in this tragedy.

Still today many progressives and militant secularists look with fondness at the French Revolution. It was here that we see the true nature of the revolution which was not to help the poor and needy but to attack God. Ever since Judas’ tirade against those who let the penitent woman pour expensive perfumes over Jesus in thanksgiving for her deliverance,  the poor and needy have been the foil for those wanting control of the Church. In addition to royal family members, the leaders of the French Revolution and their henchman killed simple priests, nuns and Catholic believers, the rich and poor alike, who tried to defend the figurative and literal destruction of the Catholic Church in France.

At the famed Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the violent mob took great delight in hearing that prostitutes were mockingly crowned with power on the church’s altar. Earlier Voltaire had proudly exclaimed that once the indefatigable Jesuits were thrown out of the country anything was possible.  He did not live to see the revolution, though his dream of anarchy continued. However,  in Voltaire we see the true wishes of those who admire his ideas, whether they lived in 1789 or 2010.

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels would pick up on this theme of violence toward religion and God. It would continue underground in intellectual circles until the age of mass communications when television, music and the internet would not only broadcast the views of the intellectual but the ranting of those who claimed to be rank and file. From there it would get into certain churches and seminaries and universities of theological formation. Keep in mind that it was none other than Saul Alinksy, the mentor of many in the liberal and progressive movements, including many in Washington DC, who dedicated his landmark book, Rules for Radicals to among others Lucifer.

I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that from the writings of Marx and Engels came the longing for the extermination of those who were beneath the intellectuality of these two, along with the many they influenced from Hitler and Stalin, to Mao and even those who had no political power but had the power of the pen, that being George Bernard Shaw. To see a grainy video of Shaw smiling talking about having each man and woman defend their existence is chilling, to hear of him speak of killing these people humanely while classical music is played is to see a vision of hell on earth. In a more modern example, Che Guevara often mocked Africans and African Americans. He also fondly recalled torturing those who didn’t believe in a worldwide Marxist Revolution. Yet, somehow and only God knows why, images of Guevara are on Tee shirts and other fashions, often worn by the very people Guevara detested. The aforementioned men have made no secret of their hatred of God and somehow, their ideas have made it into the religious world, specifically liberal seminaries.

Because of the amalgamation of the ideas making their way into houses of worship, many liberal religious bodies have experienced a statistical freefall. Dave Shiflett’s book Exodus chronicles the plummeting congregations of the mainline Protestant Churches. The most extreme example of this can be seen in the Unitarian Church , which two to four former presidents called their own (depending upon your source.)  By the 1990s, it was estimated that half of the Church’s congregation was either agnostic or atheist. Two men David Burton and Dean Fisher have become evangelists in their own church preaching that yes God does exist. This is only the start of this theological madness. In some Ivy League Theology Departments half of the faculty is either atheist or agnostic.

These two examples are the end result of drinking too excessively from the Enlightenment. In England, the Anglican Church which once was revered as the shining light of Protestant respectability, had seen its numbers plummet thanks to four decades of liberal theological and social pronouncements. It is now estimated that there are more people attending Friday prayers at their local mosque than attend Anglican Church services on Sunday.

In the United States some liberal Protestant mainstream churches has seen their church numbers fall as much as fifty percent in the last 40 years. In many small towns and cities across the US, historic churches mainline Protestant churches sit empty as many of their adherents have left for the Catholic Church or the local non denominational mega church. While the conservative Southern Baptist Church is holding its own in numbers, the much maligned conservative Catholic Church is still growing in the US.  Even in Catholic places like Quebec, which once had one of the highest rates of church attendance in the western world, church attendance has plummeted thanks to much of the province’s leadership having also drunk too much from the cup of the 1960s and 1970s enlightenment.

Yet as Christ promised the Gates of Hell would not prevail against the One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church. In the last few years we have seen a resurgence of orthodoxy in the Church to counter the Dictatorship of Relativism that our current Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI has prophetically warned us is occurring in our modern world.

As I noted before, all of this is made manifest in ordination numbers.  64 to 6 and 14 to 4 stand out. What does this mean? In 2006 when writing my book, The Tide is Turning Toward Catholicism, I noted that even though the Diocese of Rochester had more Catholics than the dioceses of Lincoln and Omaha combined, Rochester had 6 men studying for the priesthood while Lincoln and Omaha had 64. That same year of 2006 Denver had 14 young men ordained to the priesthood (eleven in May and three earlier in the academic year) while Los Angeles had four; a staggering statistic when one considers that the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has 4,300,000 Catholic residents compared to 385,000 Catholics for the Archdiocese of Denver. Los Angeles and Rochester are led by two of the most liberal prelates in the Church, while Omaha, Lincoln and Denver are led by three of the more conservative bishops in the US, a revelatory statistic to say the least.

It doesn’t stop there, Catholic young people (age 30 and under) who attend Mass regularly believe in the Church’s teachings and in her pro life stand more than any age group, including that of their grandparents. Perhaps this is why those who love to rebel against the Church have sounded so shrill lately, they can see what perhaps even the true believer doesn’t always see; they see that the tide is turning toward Church orthodoxy. This can also be seen in the world at large as evidenced by the uproar over a very benign pro life ad during the Super Bowl. Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, whose mother was told by doctors to abort him, appeared with his mother in an ad that never mentioned abortion. What ensued was a firestorm. Fortunately, like the Catholic youth mentioned above, we know the tide must be turning toward life when the pro abortion lobby gets this exercised over an ad that never mentions the pro life cause.

As I noted in the three previous articles, The Construct of Rebellion, If You Want The Political Left To Run Governments, Look At What They have Done To Religion, As Our Modern Western Culture Begins Tom Implode, the Catholic Church Is Our Last Best Hope, that led up to this the fourth and final of this series, we are seeing a clear demarcation between those who will defend Christian orthodoxy and those who will not. This will eventually lead many to make a decision; will the follow Christ or won’t they, and if they will not what will they follow? The coming open rebellion against God is asking and vociferously pleading for the world not to follow God, though they claim God doesn’t exist, one can easily read between the lines to see they believe He does but because He doesn’t follow their line of logic, they won’t follow Him. They truly have become a spoiled child run amok. (Point of personal privilege, I am not speaking about those struggling with religious belief, but those who adamantly claim there is no belief to follow.)

Those who have openly and loudly announce God doesn’t exist and then find themselves in the halls of power have a horrifying track record. The diabolical Adolf Hitler ( hated organized religion, especially Catholicism) who had six million Jews killed along with six million others, including many Catholic and Lutheran clergy came in third to the likes of Joseph Stalin and Chairman Mao Tse Tung. No one knows for sure but Stalin and Mao had at least 20 million killed. Yet, for some strange reason Mao is somehow fashionable in some western intellectual circles.

Take for example, then White House Communications Director Anita Dunn. While giving the 2009 Commencement address for St Andrew’s Episcopal High School at the nation’s cathedral In Washington DC, Dunn told the graduating seniors that her two favorite philosophers were Mother Teresa and Chairman Mao. It would be interesting to know how many clergy through the years, both Catholic and Protestant have passed through the national cathedral, affiliated with the Episcopal Church, on their way to China, never to be heard from again, one of the tens of millions of victims of Mao’s war on the Chinese people. Many doors are open to the graduates of St Andrew’s Episcopal High School, and for the price their parents pay one can expect this to occur. The tuition for a high school student at the renowned school is $31, 107 per year. These students are the future leaders of the nation as evidenced by the commencement speaker herself. Imagine being told that that the biggest mass murderer the world has ever known is one of two of your commencement speaker’s favorite philosophers.

For all of his demonic and grisly accomplishments even some faithful believers can’t seem to fathom Stalin’s skills at undermining the Church. When Bishop Fulton Sheen baptized former Soviet Communist Bella Dodd into the Church and pronounced the faithful needed to hear her warnings many scoffed. Even today many don’t believe her assertion that Josef Stalin and the KGB attempted to infiltrate the Catholic Church through atheistic Communist seminarians. Some years ago Dr Alice von Hildebrand, widow of Dr Dietrich von Hildebrand, who was revered by both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, wrote that Bella Dodd came to her home and spoke to her and her late husband to personally relate this story. Yet, today even some orthodox-minded Catholics call the idea fantastical.

It doesn’t stop there, even when respected orthodox minded priests like Father Dwight Longenecker have articles published on Michael Brown’s Spirit Daily website, some roll their eyes. The desire to be respected by the powers that be in the religious world is too powerful for some, who would rather have the admiration of the powers that be than those who believe that miracles and signs can still occur.

Mention the horrors of the 20th century atheistic rulers, specifically Mao and Stalin to the dynamic duo of atheism, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, and you are bound to get an earful. Yet, if you truly listen to their words both Hitchens and Dawkins sound like they are more upset with God’s modus operandi, quite a peculiar thought process for someone who claims something doesn’t exist. Case in point, the uproar over Philip Pullman’ sci fi futuristic book The Golden Compass, which some have billed as the atheist’s Tolkein. Christopher Hitchens, whose main claim to fame is his one man crusade to hurl as many shocking insults at Mother Teresa as humanly possible, seemed filled with glee over Pullman’s fantastical plot of humans trying to overthrow God. This seems quite peculiar for a man who says God doesn’t exist.

In the mists of history, atheism and agnosticism seems to come and go, though it rather troubling to see their numbers increase so drastically within the last decade or so. Another new wrinkle to the atheist is their demographics. Though, Communist regimes made many millions atheists (under the point of a gun) many once freed from their disbelieving master’s thumb returned to their original faith tradition, which is why the current spate of atheism is troubling. Besides, the self loathing liberal college professor, trendy Hollywood actress  or the full of himself Phil Cannon character (Bill Murray) in the movie Groundhog Day, more and more atheists are coming from all walks of life, seeming to enjoy the novelty of being the neighborhood rebel. We can only hope and pray that the anger or ego that caused this problem to fester will heal the wound and these souls can become the people God intended them to be .

As we can see battle lines are being drawn between those who either hate God, pretend He doesn’t exist or those who are believers. There really isn’t any room for middle ground here, which Jesus seems to have predicted would happen. He told us we couldn’t serve two masters and so it will be. We do know we will when the battle because Jesus said so when He made Peter the first pope. Jesus’ words that the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church (Matthew 16:15-20) will certainly continue to be comforting, the closer we move to the abyss. However savagely we are attacked by those who hate God; it still grieves the heart of the believer that for whatever reason, some have chosen to walk in darkness. For the believer, we can do what we always do when we realize a task is out of our hands; pray for a change of heart and or for their souls.

60 Responses to The Coming Open Rebellion Against God

  1. Pax Christi of Bakersfield, CA says:

The open rebellion FOR God that is under way and led by Sarah Palin and the Tea Partiers is setting off by the loudest gnashing of teeth and wailing from the liberals since the Johnson administration when the Summer of Love and the Vietnam War protests gave rise to a bunch of crybabies.

History is replete with attempts to do what Che Guevara wanted to do, which is to “squish Jesus,” yet the libs still fail to wise up. I guess if they want to learn the hard way that evil never wins, Palin and her cohorts will gladly oblige.

Perhaps these libs need to do what I did recently–visit the Getty Villa in Santa Monica–and just let the sight of the Greek and Roman antiquities surrealistically sink into them and get them thinking about the dead ends that the roads to pagan Rome have led to.

  2. What is fascinating in Pax Christi’s comment is this: Sarah Palin is a Pentecostal, a member of the Assemblies of God, a fundamentalist Protestant denomination.

here’s the thing, guys: if we Catholics don’t repent, convert and start adhering to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, if we don’t start $h1tcanning the false gospel of social justice and peace at any price, then God will raise up sons to Abraham from the very stone themselves and use our Protestant brothers and sisters to do what we are failing to do ourselves. We, the “chosen” of the Kingdom with all the fullness of gracve and all seven Sacraments will find ourselves cast out of the Kingdom and replaced by those who do 100 times what we don while having only 1 1/2 sacraments (baptism and communion as a mere remembrance and NOT His Body and Blood).

We have got to purge Holy Mother Church of all leftism and liberalism and get back to basics. The Gospel isn’t at all about social justice – it’s about GOD’S JUSTICE, and the liberal leftoids who have ruined the Church and this country had better wake up and realize that before it’s too late. You can’t have Love without Justice. Period.

From day one? A bit harsh, seems there was a period in the Garden when things were going rather smoothly (good times, good times).

  4. Mary says:

I liked this article, it is very enlightening, and not in the Voltaire sense of the word. Thank you. Have things come to a head, or is there worse to come? I have the awful feeling that there is much worse to come. I hope I’m wrong. Ok, will keep praying, marching forward, trying trying to stay faithful.

  5. Gerry Zipf says:

Pray, pray, pray. Someone said there is no religion without sacrifice…so true!
To Paul Primavera…do not forget mercy! Jesus thank you for Your mercy…I pray it will intercept the justice I deserve!

    Faith is from GOD!
    GOD always Wins!

  7. Mike says:

Sarah Palin promotes birth control – she cannot be trusted my friends. She is just another part of the illuminati plan.

  8. Donald R. McClarey says:

Illuminati? I guess there is a full moon out there somewhere!

  9. carlos says:

justice is his said the lord.
with that digested, the most and only important area for us as catholics is to love the lord in espirit and in truth as well is our neighbors .

  10. Palin is a fallen-away Catholic who appears to believe that Israel, irregardless of their treatment of Arabs, can do no wrong. She’s not to be totally trusted

  11. Alberto says:

    Great article.

    God loves everyone.

The road to peace is to walk along the way of Christ.

True happiness can only come from Him.

Unless Jesus sees Himself in you, you will never be able to enter the Kingdom of God in heaven.

    Trust me on that one.

    Peace.

  12. Susanne says:

Sarah Pallin’s parents left the Catholic Church when she was just a toddler. So I doubt she is responsible for her situation. At least she is trying to be a Christian according to her own understanding, that is better than most Catholics in this country. Cut her some slack. We should maybe send her some Catholic apologetic books and pray for her to return to the One True Church.

  13. Pax Christi of Bakersfield, CA says:

Indeed, Sarah isn’t the perfect culture warrior from a Catholic standpoint, but unless the conservatives rally around Rick Santorum or Bobby Jindal, she or any other fellow conservative will have to do. At least she’s a far more palatable option than anything the libs, who are behind many of the woes the article points out, have to offer. Bart Stupak is one of the very few Democrats I could support, but we know the party won’t dare elevate him to a higher office.

  14. gerty says:

Thanks Pam and Alberto for your words of hope and wisdom, and we cant let fear into our lives anymore as fear prevents us from being who we really are which is gods children.Shine the light .

  16. Philojohn says:

Thespirit of the evil one took dominion when Eve listened to its voice ;we live ina culture staurated with scornful , mocking voices against Godly values and wisdom and persons being robbed off much inner joyand dignity ; add to this the hardenss of hearts brought through sins of abortion and immorality .

May the voice of The Mother echo forth through all hearts , bringing in the dominion of The Holy Spirit and prayers such as of St.Philomena avert the hold of evil brough forth through evil gods of molech and such !
Come Holy Spirit and take dominion ! Father in heaven , send forth Your Spirit that we may live in the joy and truth as Your children !
Precious bloof of Lord Jesus, cleanse and wash and heal and protect us all !

  17. Bob says:

I will take Sarah Pallin anytime over the stupidity of the liberals who are little by little trying to destroy our nation. The only way for our nation to forge ahead and better itself is for all Christians to Pray constantly, especially the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The Rosary and Chaplet are not just for Catholics but for everyone.

  18. JAMES says:

lET ME SEE HERE…”THE COMING OPEN REBELLION AGAINST GOD”…COMING?…HOW ABOUT ALREADY HERE! LOOK AT THE CHARACTERS ALREADY “RUNNING” THIS COUNTRY. ABORTION…LEGALIZED! OPEN HOMOSEXUALITY AND OPEN HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE…LEGALIZED! CLONING AND TRANSHUMAN SPECICES…LEGALIZED! PREDATORY CAPITALISM…LEGALIZED! THE MULTITUDE OF CATHOLIC YOUTH LIVING TOGETHER BEFORE MARRIAGE…ACCEPTED AS THE NORM. THE GENERAL APOSTACY OF CATHOLICS AND THE CORRUPTION OF INNOCENSE(all those Catholic children you knew…where are they on Sunday?)
NO,NO..THE CHASTISEMENT MUST COME…DIVINE MERCY BEGETS JUSTICE AND DININE JUSTICE BEGETS MERCY.
YOUR ONLY HOPE IS IN GOD..NOT MAN. HOLY SPIRIT PURIFY THE FACE OF THE EARTH!

  19. maggie says:

HE, makes the sun to shine on the evil and the good
and the rain to fall on the just and the unjust,
“Just so, when the justice falls, it will fall on the
faithful and the unfaithful.”. This is a quote of a
nun who spoke truth to power.
Quite frankly, the apostles have called judgement down
upon every mother and every mother’s son of us. When we could have been lead into life, we were lead into
    unorthodox masses, liberation theology, progessivism,
sexualized priesthood (with predators protected),(pleas for justice squealched),collections used to support pro homosexual, pro abortion,(pro death)agendas.
We are told by surveys, that of the people who do attend mass regularly that two thirds do not believe in the real presence. We are told by scripture,”Whoever eats the body and blood of Christ
without discerning the body, eats and drinks condemnation on himself.” So ,”Justice cometh.”.
    Is it any surprise?

  20. Pam P says:

The American Bishops MUST get the Statue of Our Lady of America solemnly processed and enthroned into the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception soon, as she requested of Sister Mildred Neuzil in the 1950s. She promised to work miracles (of the soul) here even greater than those that are granted at Lourdes and Fatima. 800,000 people in Rwanda were slaughtered because her requests were ignored. Millions of innocent childreen have lost there lives here. When we will ever learn–it will soon be too late for us.

  21. Pam P

Why must they follow a private revelation?

  22. Pavel says:

Why do many of us Catholics still put our trust in politicians, who are in any case complicit in the misdeeds and mistakes of this secular society? St. Ambrose is my model, because he had to be unwillingly drafted into his office.

The Kingdom of God is the Kingdom of Christ, not whoever occupies the White House.

  23. Vladimir, Slovakia says:

    Very good article Dave,
just some comments: Stalin killed over 60 million people, Mao was not far behind. Remember the Ukraine famine just about 90 yrs. ago, the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact to attack and divide Catholic Poland, etc. Pol Pot in Cambodia was just an aprentice to these big time murderers. Marx was awoved satanist supported by Engels, etc. And even today, there are people fooled by their ideas and fighting to implement their twisted ideas over the, sorry to say, silent majority in many parts of the world. We have experienced the fairy tale of Communism and survived it… but do not want anybody to suffer the things they were making up and imposing on people. Solzhenytsin is not lying in his Gulag book, believe me. It was not as cruel here in Slovakia, as it was in Russia. Can you imagine being purged to labor camps in some Alaska´s remote areas in just a thin clothing for say 20 years, being in snow for say 10 months a year and eating just a very thin soup and a piece of dark bread and work hard in tundra, maybe digging, building whatever? Possibly being beaten by coward guards? Just because you did not agree with the politics of the State? Or did not want to join the only political party there is in the country?
I tell you, America (USA) you are a very much blessed country, but I am afraid you are loosing it thru immorality as the great empires of the past lost it, too. I do not mean just a carnal immorality, but the greed, pride of the elite, lack of humility towards other peoples of the Earth, I´d say sometimes naive delaing with other nations, etc. The only lucky thing is, our dear God can forgive everything and everybody when we regret our sins and confess them, renounce them and do not return to them, right?
Regarding homosexuals, one excellent reading tip: Francis MacNutt: Homosexuality: Can It Be Healed? For those who believe in inner healing and deliverance from evil one.
May god bless you, America! Stand by God and God will stand by you.

  24. Dale Price says:

Leaving aside the private revelation aspect, I find the argument that the Blessed Mother would exact as punishment for failure to install a statue the deaths of 800,000 people revolting beyond words.

  25. robert epperly says:

I am a conservative loyal Catholic. Don’t be fooled by left and right politics. This is how the real powers keep us divided. Politicians are all in the same boat except a select few. All people of good will have to unite in a single community and rebel against the true puppet masters that control the media, the government. the college textbooks, hollywood etc. They are out to unequivicably destroy Christ’s Church. Start by turning off the t.v.
Yes, the Church has been infiltrated by antichrist forces, and it’s not the first time. Pray and fast. Pray for healing, pray for miracles, and keep the faith.
Robert Epperly, Author, Sons of Thunder

  26. maggie says:

Pam P. is right about Rwanda and Our Lady of America.
Read them for yourselves. It does appear our good
Lord sends messenger after messenger. They just get
    slain.

Prayer is a must. Action is expected. Act justly.

  27. Dale Price says:

    maggie:

Let’s see if I have this straight: Our Lady consigned 800,000 men, women and children in Africa to a gruesome, genocidal pogrom–largely carried out with machetes–because Americans didn’t install a statue in the District of Columbia?

Re: Dale Price God does expect obedience as he knows the future. It is not as if He caused the genocide in Africa but He knew how to avoid certain things from happening. Sometimes we just must obey and trust.

  29. Sparxz says:

“Pax Christi”. What a strange name to use when you are supporter of Sarah Palin. On 7 Feb 2010 Sarah Palin says Obama can get reelected if He attacks Iran for Israel !

“Say he decided to declare war on Iran or decided really to come out and do whatever he could to support Israel, which I would like him to do,” Palin told Fox News’ Chris Wallace Sunday. “That changes the dynamics in what we can assume is going to happen between now and three years.”

Palin clarified that she doesn’t think that Obama wouldn’t cynically “play the war card” to help his 2012 bid. “I’m saying if he did, things would dramatically change if he decided to toughen up and do all that he can to secure our nation and our allies,” she said.

    See for your self:

The “Tea Party” movement was started by a Pro Lifer with
    a 20 year Pro-Life voting record. His Pro-Christian, Pro-Life,
Pro-Constitution/Bill of Rights, Anti-War, Common sense libertarian-economics are the quickest answer to America woes. His name is congressman Ron Paul from Texas.

False NeoCons like palin, Glen Beck, Sean Hanrity, and
Chris Mathews, have tried to destroy America’s chance of revival through the Tea Parties.
Now we need ‘Coffey Parties’ to wake up America, as the clock is ticking, louder, and louder !!

Ron Paul a protestant, is advocating Catholic church teaching on economics and social Justice, for 20+ years. He ‘shows up’ allot of lazy Catholics, that won’t lift a hand for their church, their Nation, their children, or ultimately, ‘God’.

  30. MaryAnn says:

If every Catholic in America followed the teachings of the Church- penitence, amendment of sinful ways, sacrifice, prayer and receiving the sacraments- America would be a very different place today. Too much emphasis on politics in these comments; God is neither Dem or Repub, liberal or conservative. And we are called not be dem or repub, liberal or conservative, but sons and daughters of God. If we look for the face of Jesus in each person we encounter and respond to Him, that will go a long way toward people seeing Christ in themselves and in each other. We are all made in His image, after all, and He does desire salvation for each one of us. They will know we are Christians by our love- not our politics.

  31. ned kelly says:

“good” article . The church has been estabilished several times from Adams time until now .Man is responsible for the apostacy in each era. Since the pope of the time 1956 excepted that the bones of Peter have been proven to have been buried in Jerusalem and many false traditions have taken place of biblical truths. We will see further falling away from any semblance of Christian faith. Look for the cleansing of Christ’s true Church in the near future without the cleansing the Gospel will not go into all thr world. Don’t be so fixed on what you have taught that you see the Truth.

  36. Jesus of Nazareth -The Christ and Messiah

His Vision, His Message: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent all, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15).

Finally, a simple single narrative explains the true Gospel and offers an ideal learning tool for all “disciples of Christ” (Matthew 24:13). This easy-to-read Bible Notes study guide will enlighten and re-energize the Christian community since it simplifies the four Gospels into one easy to follow narrative of the life of Christ. It is packed with illustrations, charts, maps and a ten-part Chronological Index of all events surrounding the life of Christ, allowing the reader to easily skip from place to place inside the gospel. Are you interested in a comprehensive narration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? You don’t have to flip back and forth between gospels or use a concordance to find the same story in different accounts. Everything is right at your fingertips.

-A great Bible Notes or Study guide for understanding the complete gospel of the “Strait Gate.”
-It is especially suited for newcomers into the Christian faith.
-A must read for all spiritual leaders to avoid preaching a “bare-bones” gospel that focuses more on the Apostles’ personal doctrine and saints (Jer. 17:5) rather than the message of Jesus Christ.
-The message of the book doesn’t preach, but teaches the reader the gospel.
-The book doesn’t over shadow, but enhances the pulpit message.
-The truth about what Jesus actually taught and the miracles He performed are explained.

Our Lady consigns 800,000 to death? Ridiculous. Stop creating straw men. Our Lady requests certain actions of us that show our repentence and trust in God. It is God chooses the means and the time to transmit grace. Often the greatest graces come in the simplest form (e.g. the Eucharist), a stumbling block for the wise and a scandal for the powerful. God often chooses the humblest, most ignorant or lowly means to get our attention. Did you never read how Naaman the Syrian was told by Elisha the prophet to wash 7 times in the Jordan River to cure his leprosy? He was expecting the prophet to perform a prodigy, but God used the simple act of plunging 7 times into the Jordan to cleanse the man of his affliction. Therefore, if the Blessed Mother requests that we do something simple, then like simple, humble, and IGNORANT children we should gladly and trustingly comply with Her request. God exalts the humble and humbles the exalted…

  51. [...] In my book, The Tide is Turning Toward Catholicism, I note the increase in vocations and converts coming into Church, especially in Africa and Asia, and even US and European dioceses that are more orthodox in nature and not apologetic about the truths of the Catholic Church and it’s founder Jesus Christ. The only other church that is growing is Evangelical churches that have not changed their doctrines to appease the modern world, as have many of the mainline Protestant churches. Though this surrender to truth may make them popular with the mainstream media and save them from terrorist attacks, it hardly advances the Gospel. Sadly, as Pope Benedict XVI has pointed out, it makes these churches and their follower slaves to the Dictatorship of Relativism.
