Interesting Blog Alert!

One of the joys of the internet is stumbling upon something new and wonderful, at least to the stumbler.  I have always had a strong interest in science fiction.  I recently came across the Sci-Fi Catholic blog which explores the genre from a Catholic perspective.  The proprietor of the blog, D. G. D. Davidson, is a convert to the Faith and a graceful writer.

His blog is well worth a look.  That he has a good sense of humor is typified by this video that he has posted on his site:

Science fiction has a not entirely undeserved reputation of being hostile or indifferent to religion.  However there have been positive portrayals of the Catholic Church within some outstanding works in the genre.   Poul Anderson’s hilarious The High Crusade, and the masterpiece A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Millis are two fine examples.  (Avoid like the plague Millis’ late in life, after he had left the Church, Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman, which is unreadable and strongly anti-Catholic.)  Feel free to add to the list in the comboxes below.
