Hark the Herald Angels Sing

Something for a Christmas Eve.  Hark the Herald Angels Sing combined with Renaissance Masters praising in paint Madonna and Child.

Hark the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!”

Christ by highest heav’n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin’s womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!”

Hail the heav’n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris’n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!”

  1. Jay Anderson says:

My favorite carol. Sang it tonight at Midnight Mass … and sang the traditional lyrics at the top of my lungs whenever we got to the OCP gender neutral garbage.

  2. Donald R. McClarey says:

My singing voice has been known to injure small animals and to bring grown men and women to tears, so everyone knows to get clear of me when this song starts, as I am going to roar it out!

  3. Tito Edwards says:

Think of it as serving your time in Purgatory on earth in having to endure the vestiges of the smoke of satan.

  4. Jay Anderson says:

The other day, my kids asked me to sing the second and third verses (the ones with which they, like most people, were unfamiliar) for them. I explained to them that pretty much everything they need to know about their Faith is found in this carol.
