Health Care Conference

It appears that Democratic leadership is going to forgo the customary conference process to reconcile the House and Senate health care reform bills. Instead it will be negotiated between Democratic leaders from both chambers and the Obama administration, to the exclusion of Republican lawmakers.

  1. If you’ll forgive my ignorance, does that change the eventual approval process? Do they then take the final negociated bill back for an up or down vote in both houses?

  2. Eric Brown says:

No, it doesn’t. The final product will go back to each chamber — unable to be subjected to amendments — for an up or down vote.

I did more research and this is all above board. It’s what the legislators call “ping-pong”. It’s more a term to describe what is going on ‘among’ certain legislators. It isn’t anything formal but something that organically came about as time passed. Something similar to a filibuster.

The shady procedure may be routine but it is not above board. Nothing these Congressional critters are doing is above board and most certainly not the assault on health care bill. God willing it will not pass and that this assault on reason, history and morality will jostle us to turn back to Christ and restore America to her Old Republic prominence.

I know the Church has permitted tyrannicide in the past :); how does that translate for rogue legislators?

    Someone get a rope.

  5. Tito Edwards says:

    I wouldn’t go that far.

Unless President Obama cancels the elections, there is no path to tyrannicide as far as I can tell.

  6. American Knight says:

I meant to put an emoticon at the end of that statement. I agree with you and I wouldn’t go that far . . . . . yet.

  7. Tito Edwards says:

Our Dear Leader President Obama said eight (8) times that he would televise the Health Care conferences. All caught on tape:

This is Obama’s “read my lips moment”.

2010 maybe 1994 for congress, but 2012 is looking more like 1992 instead of 1980!

Thanks Tito, you’re a scholar and a gentleman. Well, Ok, you’re just a gentleman. Perhaps you’re just a blogger. 😉

    Either way, you’re a brother. 🙂

  9. Tito Edwards says:

I don’t know about a scholar. And sometimes not even a gentleman, but I appreciate the comments!
