Patrick Kennedy Will Not Run For Re-election

Patrick Kennedy, a Democrat Congressman from Rhode Island and a son of Teddy Kennedy, has announced that he will not run for re-election.  Kennedy in recent months has been engaged in a very public conflict with his Bishop Thomas J. Tobin over the issue of abortion as detailed in posts here, here and here.  I suspect that Kennedy is not running for a number of reasons, perhaps the most salient of them being that the electoral outlook for Democrats, even in Rhode Island, is the most challenging since 1994.  A recent poll indicated that Patrick Kennedy was probably going to face a difficult re-election race.

Patrick Kennedy quitting, Ted Kennedy passing away, Murtha passing away, MA voting in a Republican into Ted’s old senate seat, many more dems not seeking reelection.

    I don’t believe in coincidences.

    God has a plan.

It’ll be interesting to see where all this leads to (besides checking the liberals in congress and ending Obama’s sovietization of America).

  2. Will the libs get the message? Quit before you die and face God for your abortionism.

Patrick Kennedy was born in 1967 and has been an elected official since 1989. It would be good for him to get some proper vocational training and get married.

So who’s going to be the next prominent Democrat to fall? Harry Reid is in serious trouble pollwise in NV last I heard.

  5. Tito Edwards says:

A snapshot of that election shows he is on his way to losing.

But a lot can happen between now and election day.

Well, that question got answered a lot sooner than I thought 🙂 (re: Evan Bayh)
